Lee E. Harrell, Jr., PE, LEED™ AP
President / Chief Executive Officer
Lee has over 20 years experience in all aspects of electrical
engineering and project management for healthcare, commercial,
industrial, institutional, and laboratory facilities.
Lee has developed and copyrighted the DesignGear Electrical
Engineering Software System. This application, which
is in use worldwide, was the first software package to
successfully automate much of the building systems design
process. This system, used in conjunction with other
process improvement techniques developed by Lee, has
substantially improved the quality and speed of building
system design projects worldwide. Lee is a graduate of
Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University
with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Management.
He has completed graduate level course work in Industrial
Engineering & Operations Research with Emphasis in
Quality Engineering from North Carolina State University.
Daniel C. Saltrick, AIA
Vice President / Chief Operations Officer
Dan has more than 17 years experience in all aspects
of architectural design, project management, and construction
administration. His work includes programming, design,
and renovation of universities/colleges, commercial,
government and institutional, K-12 educational, and retail
and commercial building types. His abilities as an architect
and project manager include project and construction
estimating, life cycle cost analysis, scheduling and
high performance design. Dan’s responsibilities
include facilitating and coordinating the efforts of
each project team, the Owner, the Harrell, Saltrick & Hopper
Project Management Team, and local and state authorities.
Dan leads the effort to define each project and set goals
and parameters to show success and progress. In addition,
he is responsible for tracking and recording progress
from pre-design through closeout. Dan holds a Bachelor
of Science in Architecture degree from The University
of Maryland and a Bachelor of Architecture from The University
of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Henry L. Hopper, PE
Vice President
Henry brings to Harrell, Saltrick & Hopper, PC over
30 years experience in all aspects of mechanical engineering
and project management for health care, commercial, industrial,
institutional, and laboratory facilities. Henry’s
extensive technical knowledge, his attention to detail,
and his commitment to each project has led him to become
one of the most recognized and trusted engineers in the
Charlotte area. Henry also has extensive experience in
Life Cycle Cost Analysis of alternative mechanical systems
for buildings, providing a method of evaluating various
energy systems so that the most efficient system for
the building can be selected. Henry is a graduate of
Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science degree
in Mechanical Engineering.
Donald A. Jones, PE, RCDD
Director of Electrical Engineering
Donnie has over 10 years experience in all aspects of
engineering, construction, project management, and construction
administration for healthcare, educational, institutional,
laboratory, sporting event, and commercial facilities.
His experience includes both design and construction.
He has knowledge of specifying and designing: raceways,
vertical backbone cabling, distribution racks/blocks,
horizontal infrastructure cabling, terminations, patch
cables, testing, and certification. He has a vast working
knowledge of the following systems and also how they
can be integrated together: voice, data, media retrieval,
TV, CCTV, card access, door security, nurse call, fire
alarm, intercom/paging, sound, master clock/bell, and
audio/visual. Donnie works attentively with the utility
companies to coordination service entrances and demarcation
points. He then coordinates and designs complete building
systems through careful coordination with the Owner for
a multi-building campus or individual building project.
Donnie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical
Engineering from West Virginia University.
Thomas E. Riddle
Vice President / Chief Financial Officer
Tom has more than 25 years of commercial banking experience
plus 13 years of service to the design engineering industry.
He is a proven manager and innovator for both large and
small organizations, with strong internal consultant
skills. He now develops business strategy and manages
the Corporate Finance and Human Resources functions for
Harrell, Saltrick & Hopper, PC. For more than two
decades, Tom has actively volunteered his service to
numerous civic and non-profit boards in the greater Charlotte
area. Tom is a graduate of The University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill and holds a Bachelor of Science degree
in Business/Banking & Finance.
